After falling in love with the first ever banh mi I tasted they have become part of my diet.  They have everything you need in one bite.  If you haven't had one before you MUST make this or get down to your local Vietnamese bakery and put one in your face.

When buying the baguettes buy them from a Vietnamese run bakery.  The Vietnamese baguettes are usually made with rice flour making them lighter and a thinner crispier crust compared to the normal French baguette.

Pate.  Usually pork liver pate is used.  If you can find it or even make it go for it.  Or buy ready made chicken liver pate with black pepper.

Crispy shallots can be purchased in any Asian grocery store.  Also crispy shallots go good on top of stir-fries and salads as a nice textural crunch and sweet onion-y  hit.
